Clinics & Services
This is run by the practice nurse in conjunction with the doctors, by appointment only.
The baby clinic is run on a Wednesday morning by Dr Hanley and the practice nurse Mrs Susan Samuel, for child development checks, baby weighing and immunisations and allows an opportunity to discuss other problems, e.g. sleeping, feeding and child health worries. Please bring your child’s record book with you when you attend. It is important that all infants and children are protected from potentially serious diseases and we recommend that all immunisations are given.
We can refer to NHS counsellors or a private counsellor.
This is run by our Assistant Practitioner, in conjunction with the doctors, by appointment only.
End of Life Care
The Surgery provides End of Life support based on the Gold Standard Framework.
See also our page about In Times of Bereavement.
Contraceptive care is provided by the nurse and all doctors during normal surgery hours.
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing and rest homes.
Please contact the reception staff in September for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.
Learning Disability Health Checks
This is an annual health check for patients with learning disabilities by appointment only.
NHS Health Checks
The NHS Health Check is a health check-up for adults in England aged 40-74. It's designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia. You need to make an appointment with the Nurse for this service.
Patients Over 75
If you are 75 years of age or over, you should be seen annually, either by your doctor, the practice nurse, the district nurse or the health visitor. This can be arranged at the surgery or, if that is not possible, a home visit will be arranged.
It is strongly recommended that every patient over the age of 65 years has a pneumonia vaccination. The vaccine is also strongly recommended for all patients with heart or kidney disease and those with asthma, chronic bronchitis or diabetes as well as those in nursing or rest homes. The vaccine is free of charge. This vaccine need only be given once in a lifetime.
